Three kinds of rate appear on Olympus: reference rates, live market rates and your quote. This page explains each.
Three kinds of rate.
Each one has a different job. Only your quote is a price.
Reference rates
Rates to the Botswana pula held in the Olympus platform. Used internally for compliance thresholds and limits. Not a price.
Live market rates
Mid-market rates from a public feed, shown for orientation. They exclude fees and any margin, and are not an Olympus price.
Your quote
The rate applied to your payment or transfer, with any margin included. Shown before you confirm, and valid for a short time.
Olympus reference rates.
Rates to the Botswana pula held in the Olympus platform, last updated 4 September 2026. Olympus uses them internally, for compliance thresholds and limit checks. They are not a price you can convert at.

Enter what the recipient should receive. The sender pays the conversion and the fee, and the recipient gets the exact amount. The calculator uses live market rates, so the result is an estimate. Your quote is the price.

Rates by Exchange Rate API, with backup feeds. If none can be reached, the calculator uses the Olympus reference rates above.
How Olympus quotes a conversion.
You ask for a quote
When you send an international payment or convert between currencies, a quote is requested for that transaction.
You see the rate
The rate and any fee are shown before you confirm. Quotes expire, so the rate you see is the rate you get if you confirm in time.
Fees are separate
International transfer fees are on the Fees page. A conversion margin, if any, is part of the quoted rate and is not shown as a separate figure.
